California Governor Gavin Newsom confirmed that President Trump will deploy 2,000 National Guard soldiers to the city

This morning, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed said active duty Marines at nearby Camp Pendleton would also be mobilized if “violence continues”

The National Guard will be deployed in Los Angeles after riots and agitation in response to federal immigration raids spilled over into a second day.

California Governor Gavin Newsom confirmed that President Trump will deploy 2,000 National Guard soldiers to the city.

Local police and federal agents have so far failed to contain the violence using tear gas, stun guns and riot equipment.

Demonstrators outside a federal detention center in the Downtown area launched explosives and other projectiles at the building, and elsewhere in the city buildings were set on fire.

In a post on X, Governor Newsom said, “The federal government is sowing chaos so they can have an excuse to escalate. That is not the way any civilized country behaves.”

He described the deployment of National Guard troops as “purposefully inflammatory” and claimed it will “only escalate tensions.”

President Trump hit back on Truth Social, saying Governor Newsom and city Mayor Karen Bass were incapable of maintaining law and order in the city.

“If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles, can’t do their jobs, which everyone knows they can’t, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!,” President Trump wrote.

In a follow-up post, the President said that masks would be banned at protests.
